    From what I've seen, in the social culture of Second Life, the agent and the avatar are synonymous by common contextual definition. Most people don't know about the specifics of how their "virtual senses", aka the audio/visual response received from the server through the agent, work. They process the information unconsciously and perceive themselves within their avatar. That's immersion for you.
